Paarl-based company Tri-Trade Consolidated Freight was founded in 2000 by brothers Ian and Jaco Jacobs, with the aim of offering consolidated freight in the wine industry by serving wholesalers country-wide.
" Consolidation of loads is an important part of the economic replenishment of stock throughout South Africa and we have reached a point where we consolidate more than one cellar's wine to a specific wholesaler - resulting in a reduced cost for the producers," explains Ian.
"Tri-Trade has arguably established itself as the largest independent carrier of wine in South Africa. Together with The Wine Call Centre (administration) and Liquor Runners (secondary distribution), we have established the most economic route to market for Wineries," he says.
Tri-Trade has depots in Paarl and Johannesburg with satellite depots run by Liquor Runners in Durban, Port Elizabeth and Bloemfontein. According to Ian it is the fact that they can distribute any quantities, from one pallet to 34 at a time, which makes these services so unique. Full insurance is also offered on all goods that meet their specifications.
